Hans Ulrich Bergey Homestead, built 1732

Hans Ulrich Bergey

Hans Ulrich Bergey was born in Langnau, Switzerland on April 21, 1700. In 1719, he sailed into the port of Philadelphia and eventually settled in Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania. Hans Ulrich Bergey was one of many Swiss Mennonites who settled in the region. He married Anne Mary (perhaps Clemens), and on March 15th, 1726, bought land in Lower Salford Township near the northeast end of Perkiomen Creek. This photo shows where he lived and raised a family of 11 children.
